June 4, 2026
Dear Middle School Community,
This is a week of many lasts. This Monday, we had our last morning assembly that left us with a thought inspired by a line from the children’s book, The Wonderful Things You Will Be (Martin): “Will you take care of things much smaller than you?” Today, Gr. 6 enjoyed their last field trip at Medieval Times, and soon Gr. 7 and 8 will enjoy their last hurrah at the Philadelphia Zoo and Hersheypark. But until then, we invite you to our last celebration of student learning: the Capstone.
Friday, June 5
Gr. 8 (9:00 AM) in the MS Community Room: Think Globally
Please gather in the MS Community Room to begin. Students have been divided into 5 groups and they will present at various locations; groupings will be posted in the Community Room. The topics are as varied as our students and their passions. It began with a question, it continued by looking through the lens of the UN Sustainable Development Goals, and it will end with a heartfelt presentation.
Gr. 7 (2:30 PM) in the Piltch Commons: Generations
Join us in the Piltch Commons for a most unique museum. Generations is about who we are in relation to history and our own sense of multi-generational history, in the context of our own cultural histories.
Monday, June 8
Gr. 6 (10:30 AM) in the MS Community Room: Beyond the Stars
We will meet in the Community Room before heading up to the 6th-grade floor. Before we look inward, we look out….way out into the universe. Come enjoy our students’ research, listen to their interviews, see their Golden Record, enjoy their Rocket Art, and marvel at their Message in a Bottle.
This is our final weekly update. Over the summer, you will receive a few letters from me as we prepare for our students’ next steps in their learning journeys. For families of Gr. 8 students moving into Upper School, I’ve enjoyed this year-long conversation with you. For families who are moving on, we wish you and your children a safe and rewarding journey ahead. For those who are returning, I invite you to meet with me during the quiet of summer so that we can prepare for this journey in partnership.
May next week bring you peace and closure as you sit back and marvel at your child’s progress. I close with gratitude. I do not take lightly the trust you have placed in us to shepherd your child through this transitional, vulnerable, and powerful time of their growth. I hold that trust with honor and awe.
Sincerely,
Chantra Reinman
Head of Middle School
