The Lower Campus was buzzing with “celebrity” today! The Honorable Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Dr. Albert Einstein, Malala Yousafzai, Confucius, the Honorable John Lewis, Amelia Earhart, and Sir Ernest Shackleton - just to name a few - spent the morning with us. What an impressive group of individuals who exemplified Courage for the Deed in their lives!
To provide some context, our 3rd Grade students spent the last several weeks reading, researching, and writing about a person of their choice. Their hard work culminated today in Bagels and Bios, an opportunity to share a first-person presentation with their classmates and family members. I’m so very proud of these students - for what they learned along the way and how they were able to share it proudly with those who gathered today. Thank you, Mr. Caddle, Mrs. Gellert, and Ms. Farrell, for providing this opportunity for our students!
Just a few quick reminders:
TOMORROW is a 1:00PM dismissal for all LC students.
Later Gator will be available next Thursday, March 26 for all students until 5:00 pm.
When we return from Spring Break, all families are asked to utilize ShipleyNet to indicate a child’s absences, late arrivals, and early dismissals. Click HERE for further directions.
As Spring-like weather is around the corner, please be reminded about our dress code expectations for students. Our Gators are asked to wear khaki or navy blue pants or shorts with a white, navy blue, or forest green collared shirt and a Shipley sweatshirt. They may also choose to wear the Shipley tunic (Grades PreK - 4) or the Shipley kilt (Grade 5). Sneakers are the best footwear for all students to most fully enjoy PE and recess.

WEEKLY ANNOUNCEMENTS
After a long grey winter, spring starts this week, at least on the calendar! Shipley’s trees are a highlight of the campus but can be tough on allergies. If your child has spring allergies, let me know if they need their inhaler before recess. The nurses stock Claritin, and permission is on file in Magnus. If your child prefers another antihistamine, be sure to give it at home. See a few tips on navigating spring allergies from CHOP: click here for general information, here specific to Pollen Season.
Beginning Monday, April 6, we ask parents to submit attendance and dismissal updates through ShipleyNet’s Parent Submitted Attendance function. This is an efficient way to communicate with the School about your child’s attendance and will allow our attendance system to sync more effectively with Ruvna, the app the School uses for tracking in case of emergency. If you would like to begin familiarizing yourself with the attendance function, please refer to this example guide.
Registration for Shipley Day Camp is open! For more information on camp - including schedule, pricing, weekly themes, and more - please refer to the Day Camp page on the Shipley website.
Shipley offers several different athletic camps and clinics throughout the year. For more information, please refer to the Camps & Clinics page on the Shipley website.
