A young carer is someone aged 18 or under who helps look after a family member or friend who has a physical or mental health condition.

Most young carers look after a parent, sibling or grandparent. The help they provide will often be practical; completing jobs in and around the home - cooking and cleaning. They will often help with practical personal care too - and may also be the person's main emotional support.
