High School Credit Recovery & Student Success Support 

Helping Students Reach Their Goals

The Shikellamy STEAM Afterschool Program is committed to helping high school students stay on track, recover credits, and achieve their goals for graduation and beyond. Through Edmentum online coursework, students have access to free credit recovery opportunities provided by the afterschool program.

Whether a student needs to recover a missed credit, receive extra academic support, prepare for life after high school, or simply have a place to focus and get help, our program provides the resources, flexibility, and encouragement students need to succeed.

Flexible Support That Works for Students

We understand that high school students have busy schedules. Students may attend any or all program days (Monday–Thursday) and stay as long as they need during program hours.

We work with students who participate in extracurricular activities, sports, jobs, and other commitments. If a student communicates that they will be arriving late but needs additional time for coursework or support, we will do our best to accommodate their needs.

Credit Recovery Through Edmentum

Students can complete online coursework through Edmentum, a flexible learning platform designed to help students recover credits and stay on the path toward graduation.

• Courses are paid for and provided by the STEAM Afterschool Program

• Students work at their own pace with support available when needed

• Coursework can be completed during afterschool hours

• Students have access to guidance and assistance from school day teachers throughout the process

Students can enroll through their school guidance counselor or visit the Guidance Office after school, Monday–Thursday, to learn more and get started.

Academic Support & Tutoring

Students do not have to be enrolled in credit recovery to take advantage of our afterschool support. Students are welcome to attend for:

• Homework help

• Subject tutoring

• Study support

• Organization and academic planning

• Assistance with challenging assignments

Our goal is to provide students with a consistent place where they can ask questions, build confidence, and develop the skills needed for academic success.

Career & Future Planning Support

Preparing for the future is an important part of student success. Our program supports students with career-related needs, including:

• Resume building

• Job searching and applications

• Interview preparation

• College applications

• Career exploration

• Assistance with post-secondary planning

Students involved in career placements, internships, or technical schools are encouraged to participate and use our program as a resource.
