Now accepting clients! Telehealth and in-person starting December 2025!!
Hi, I’m Ali Shields, LCSW
I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a deep passion for supporting adolescents and adults through life’s challenges, transitions, and healing journeys. My approach to therapy is warm, collaborative, and grounded in evidence-based practices. I believe meaningful change happens when clients feel seen, supported, and empowered.
I earned my Master of Social Work from Northwest Nazarene University in 2017, with a focus on community mental health. My graduate thesis explored systemic barriers to accessing care for individuals experiencing homelessness and mental illness, an area that continues to shape my trauma-informed and culturally sensitive approach today. I also hold a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Boise State University.
Over the past decade, I’ve supported individuals and families in hospital emergency departments, youth programs, and community mental health settings. My work has included everything from crisis response and grief counseling to large-scale suicide prevention initiatives across Idaho schools and communities. All of this has been such rewarding work, but I'm so excited to pursue my true passion for helping individuals and families maintain wellness. I currently offer telehealth appointments to help meet you where you are—literally and emotionally.
In therapy, I draw from a range of modalities including:
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
Person-Centered Therapy
Strength-Based and Trauma-Informed Approaches
Mindfulness-Based Practices
Every session is personalized, respectful of your lived experience, and rooted in trust. My goal is to create a safe space where you can explore, grow, and heal, at your pace and in your own way.
If you're feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or simply ready for change, I’d be honored to walk alongside you.
