How are property taxes calculated?

Market values are established by the county assessor. Residential property is assessed at 19% of market value, personal property at 33.3%, commercial property at 32%, and agriculture at 12%. The general formula to calculate residential property taxes and agricultural property tax increases are shown below. Please do not use commas when you enter the value of your home or agricultural property.

**NOTE** The market value arrived based on assessed value is not a true market value and should not be used establishing a sales price. Get your market value from your property tax statement or your county assessor's office.
