The Board of Education of Sherwood Cass R-VIII School District is pleased to announce a ballot item for the April 2, 2019 Election to increase the Operating Tax Rate by $0.87 to a ceiling or maximum rate of $4.27. This would raise the maximum overall tax rate to approximately $5.14.

Currently, Sherwood Cass R-VIII has the lowest overall tax rate of the Cass County Schools and the lowest overall tax rate for any of the districts bordering Sherwood as seen in the charts at the bottom of this page. The goals for this levy increase are to:

• Improve school safety with the hiring of a School Resource Officer,
• Be competitive and increase salaries to attract and retain teachers, coaches, and staff members,
• Increase technology in the district for student use,
• Add Project Lead the Way - STEM courses (science, technology, engineering, and math courses),
• Improve the health of the district's budget, and
• Budget annually for costs of new bus payments, heating and cooling units, and yearly improvements to facilities.
