Science is defined as: The intellectual and practical activity encompassing the systematic study of the structures and behaviors of the physical and natural world through observation, testing, and experimentation.
In this course, we will strive to strengthen our understanding of the planet upon which we live and the processes that drive its natural functions. We will endeavor to ask deep questions about the processes that govern our universe. We will support and encourage each other to think of new ideas, ask complex questions, take risks with creativity, and yes... to be allowed to make mistakes in our learning. Science is all about learning from our mistakes, asking what could be changed, testing those ideas, learning from the data, and testing those ideas again. Together, we will work to promote discover the truth and facts from common scientific misconceptions and baseless claims without evidence.
The study of Science requires an open mindset and the ability to accept mistakes and shortcomings as opportunities for growth, learning, and improvement. Science is about learning something new that may not agree with some thing we believe. Science does not seek to "prove something wrong." Rather, Science is all about discovering what is, why it is, how it is, where it is, and how we as the human species can better ourselves, our world, and life in general for all that inhabit the Earth.
Our class motto is: "Think like an Explorer, Ask the Tough Questions, and Stay Curious."
