One of the best things you could ever do is visit a National Park. There are monuments, buildings, battlefields, and the famous natural parks. We're fortunate that we live near TWO national parks, the Saratoga Battlefield and the Martin Van Buren National Historic Site. One of the best parts about being a kid visiting a National Park is participating in the Junior Ranger Program. Junior Rangers can do kid programs at the parks while earning badges and patches. Of course, many National Parks are currently closed but luckily there is a way to participate in the Junior Ranger Programs. The National Park Service has created a Junior Ranger at Home program to keep you learning about our great country while you wait to visit in person.
So, the world is beginning to open again but some museums are still closed. Don't worry...you can still visit the Albany Institute of History and Art. The museum has a virtual scavenger hunt where families can learn about the museum together from the safety of their homes. Just remember to read the "fine print"...you need a gmail account and a camera to participate.
