At this time time, K-2 Google accounts are in place primarily for the “side benefit” of Single Sign Ons (SSOs). K-2 teachers are NOT expected to use Google Classroom with students (the designated learning platform is Seesaw). As a result of having Google accounts, K-3 (yes, that's K-3, not just K-2) have unique, preset, standardized passwords.
Network (and Google) passwords for ALL K-5 students follow this format:
first and last initial + last 6 digits of Student ID# [Example: gp034956]
These passwords are preset and will work both at school and at home. Since Student ID is in SIS, teachers and parents will be able to assist students with passwords. Third graders will NOT be choosing their own passwords this year. They can immediately use their Chromebooks with this standardized password.

Clever Badges (student-specific QR codes) eliminate (or minimize) students having to type in a username and password. Follow the instructions on Clever for Shen Teachers to print badges. K-2 onsite teachers should print 2 sets (1 for school, 1 for home). CVL teachers should provide families with badges for home use. Third grade teachers can decide whether their students would benefit from using badges or should get used to typing in credentials.
Due to security concerns with Google Meets generated through calendar invitations (or directly through Meet), teachers must use either nicknamed Google Meets, or Meets generated through Google Classroom.
