• Given information about video production, teachers will create a "notecard confession" style video to introduce a unit of study or convey a concept covered in the course he/she teaches, in order to gain first-hand knowledge of filmmaking as an effective PBL format.
• Pick a process, significant individual, or major event covered in your course that students have found less than interesting or difficult to understand.
• Plan and create a "notecard confession" video, whereby the individual, event, or concept is not directly identified until the last notecard is displayed.
• This type of video is not meant to be a timeline, but a story that unfolds with each notecard presented, encouraging viewers to anticipate and/or question what is being "confessed" in the video. See the example below:
• You must first write a draft on the storyboard
• Final project should have between 20-40 cards
• Maximum of 8 words per card - get to the point!
• No spelling mistakes
• Cards written clearly with dark colored ink - preferably a marker
• Once notecards have been created: STOP! Reflect on what you have tried to convey with your notecards. Does it create interest/intrigue, or does it simply list dates or instructional steps?
• Video will be created on WeVideo using your Chromebook/laptop
• Be sure to practice timing the transition of notecards; having a partner read each card out loud may help
• You may choose a song to play in the background
• Your music, transitions, and FX must add value to the words, not distract the viewer
• Before you submit: STOP! Watch your video and reflect on what kind of impression this makes on your audience - does it evoke emotion or questions while informing?
