Welcome to Agriculture Education in Shenandoah, Iowa! I am so happy you have began your adventure in the world of agriculture here. Either you grew up in agriculture all your life or you are just starting on the conscious journey of the fiber, fuel, and food industry. We are all touched everyday by the impact agriculture makes in our lives.
I had the privilege to grow up in southeast Iowa, Oskaloosa, on a family farm. My family still farms a traditional Iowa farm; corn, beans, cows and hogs. My parents are passionate supporters of agriculture and served in many roles in our community through the local 4-H program; Randy and Sheila Denburger (real estate company owner; Gatton Realty, Inc.). Their passion sparked my interest in agriculture education. Throughout my childhood and adult life, I strive to tell the agriculture story through advocacy to others through platform of teaching.
After high school, I attended Iowa State University. I graduated in May 2000 with BS. in Agricultural Education and BS. in Agriculture Business. I truly enjoyed all the opportunities that ISU had to offer! While at ISU, I was privilege to be in student government, NAMA, Ag Council, Ag Ed Club, and the collegiate FFA to name a few organizations that shaped my life.
My professional career started in Shenandoah, Iowa in May 2000-2003 were I taught high school agriculture classes and serve as the FFA advisor. The next few years, I took substitute teaching positions in 4 school districts while raising my family. The opportunity came to return to teaching full time in 2014 back where it all started in Shenandoah. I am glad to be back in the classroom full time.
Personally, my life would not be complete without my loving family. My husband Tom, is a local letter carrier and we farm along with his brother and father. We have been happy married for over 22 years. We have been blessed to have four children Sam, George, Abby, and Nora. Tom comes from a large Imogene family. We are happy to call Southwest Iowa our home. We both serve in our community on various church committees at St. Patrick's Church in Imogene and as 4-H club leaders for the WMP 4H club in Fremont County.
