Graduation
Information will be added/updated as it becomes available.
Graduation is May 20, 2025 at TBA (tentatively 6:30 P.M.) at the Pelham Civic Complex.
Graduates must report at tentatively 5:00 P.M.
Doors will open to guests at tentatively 5:30 P.M.
Graduation tickets will be distributed after graduation practice. Remember, we cannot give tickets to students who owe any outstanding debt.
Each graduate will receive 10 tickets. Please do not call or email regarding "extra" tickets.
Please note: In order to protect all guests' line-of-sight and ability to hear, air horns, noisemakers, signs, and balloons are not allowed in the venue.
Parents and guests will not be allowed on the arena floor at any time. Our seniors have responsibilities before and after the ceremony. Please plan to meet graduates immediately after the ceremony in a prearranged, designated area outside of the Civic Center.
Dress code for graduation:
Girls are encouraged to wear traditional white.
The hem of dresses should not extend lower than the hem of the graduation gown.
Young men are encouraged to wear a white shirt and a tie.
Pants should be dressy (black or dark are encouraged). No jeans, leggings, pajama pants, etc.
Honor graduates will wear a gold stole over their gown. All other graduates will wear a white stole.
Students may only wear cords that are awarded by Calera High School and its related schools.
Closed-toe shoes are preferred. No slides, flip flops, cowboy boots/work boots.
Be cautious of high heels, because the steps to the stage are steep.
Practice:
Graduation Practice will take place on the day of graduation. A permission slip will be distributed and extra copies made available in the CHS main office around May 1, 2025. It must be returned by May 16th. Students who do not participate in the practice cannot participate in the ceremony.
Students will be transported via SCS buses to graduation practice. Students are not allowed to drive themselves to graduation practice.
Students can wear comfortable clothes for graduation practice, but students are encouraged to bring any high-heeled shoes to practice in them and make sure they are a good choice to wear during the ceremony that night.
The length of graduation practice will depend on how quickly all of us can go through the steps of the ceremony. The more focused, quiet, and helpful students are, the faster it will go. We cannot guarantee a return time to the school, so please consider this when making appointments and meal reservations.
Graduates should plan to take the entire day of graduation off of work.
