My counseling program mission and vision statements align with those of the Shelby County School district and SES/WES.
The mission of the Shelby Elementary School (SES) Counseling Department is to provide all students with equal access to counseling services that are comprehensive, developmentally appropriate, and promote equity in achievement. Students will be empowered and inspired to work as life-long learners, exhibit strong leadership qualities, display ongoing compassion for others, live as responsible citizens, and engage as critical thinkers/effective problem solvers. Through the school counselor’s leadership, students will focus on their academic, social/emotional, and career growth so they are knowledgeable and prepared to be successful through their positive contributions. As a leader, the school counselor will advocate every students’ needs so they become well-prepared graduates. Through ongoing collaboration with counselors, administrators, educators, parents, school staff, and other community stakeholders, the school counseling program will have the necessary support and resources to prepare students to become models of excellence in their home, workplace, and global community.
The vision of the counseling department at Shelby Elementary (SES) is that all students are achieving excellence in education for continued success by working as diverse, life-long learners, executing strong leadership qualities, displaying ongoing compassion for others, living as responsible citizens, and engaging as critical thinkers/effective problem solvers. They are using their knowledge and skills to be models of excellence in their home, workplace and global community.
