The library has received a grant from the Shelby County Education Foundation to purchase an Imagination Playground!

The Imagination Playground has arrived!  I can't wait to see what the kids build.

Mrs. Koval-Lewis brought her students to the library to play with the Imagination Playground.

Students from Mr. Holley and Mrs. King's classes stopped by to play in the Imagination Playground.

This week, students practiced using a thesaurus to select descriptive words about themselves.  Each petal is a different descriptive word. Students were encouraged to pick words that would add a new level of sophistication to their writing.

Rainy days means time to play with the Imagination Playground.  Builds for today include a flamingo, car, satellite, scorpion, spider, a hockey stick, and a fort.

Preschoolers from Mrs. Lolley's room stopped by today to listen to the story, Let It Rain by Maryann Cocco-Leffler.  We used Boom Cards to practice recognizing feelings in the faces of  rain puddles then each student got to show the class how they felt when it rained.  Afterwards, students created their own raindrop using Jackson Pollock inspired artistry.

Preschoolers from Ms. Noelle's room stopped by the library on this rainy day to build in the Imagination Playground.

Students from Mr. Holley and Mrs. King's classes came to play in the Imagination Playground.  Today's builds include a bicycle, castle, fort, and two mosquitos.

This week in library, Mrs. Grisham's students are listening to the story, Planting a Rainbow by Lois Ehlert. We also practiced matching colors by placing flowers of different colors in their matching boxes.  Then we read an adapted book about items we might see in a garden.  Students helped finish the story by placing velcro images where they belong.

Students from Mr. Holley and Mrs. Tait's rooms came to play in the Imagination Playground to relax after ACAP Testing.  They must have been tired because the students decided to built a massage chair and a pedicure chair today.  Other builds included a car and a robot dog.

Students are learning about earthquakes and the Richter Scale in the library this week.  Each student has been challenged to build a home that can withstand the forces of mother nature.
