CHALLENGE

Designing a factory layout is a costly task in terms of time and money and is often an iterative process as aspects of the design is refined. It is often difficult to optimise as differing skills sets are required to first understand the machinery and processes to begin to optimise a factory layout. Conventional design processes can be a one-way flow with end-users being passive recipients to any process changes.  Conveying and justifying those design to stakeholders is also a challenge and can lead to further iterative loops as knowledge is captured adding further cost and time to the entire process.
