I work as a Senior Lecturer at the School of Clinical Dentistry. I am a Spanish national with a background in Chemistry and Biomaterials, holding a PhD from the Institute of Bioengineering at the University of Elche. Following my doctoral studies, I moved to the UK in 2011 to work as a postdoctoral researcher and then lecturer. As an international member of staff, I am eager to join the network and collaborate with colleagues to create a supportive and fair environment for everyone. I am also very interested in representing the international academic community as Co-Chair within the Committee and engaging with colleagues from diverse backgrounds and nationalities to promote inclusivity, collaboration and mutual understanding!
I work as an Immigration Advice & Compliance Officer in the Student Experience and Support Department. I hold a PhD in Political Sociology, and I am passionate about Migration, International Student Mobility, and the Sustainability of International Commodities. Originally from Brazil, I studied in the UK in 2015/2016, and I have been back since 2023 as a husband and worker. I joined the committee a year ago and now want to step forward with my contribution as Co-Chair, representing professional staff members to further integrate our international community and foster a stronger sense of collaboration to address our common challenges.
I am a University Teacher at the School of Sociological Studies, Politics and International Relations. I arrived in the UK as an international postgraduate student in 2014. I then returned to my home country, Turkey, for work. In 2018, I decided to pursue an academic career, which led me to return to the UK to complete a PhD in International Relations. Since 2022, I have been teaching various topics related to politics and international relations at UoS. I am keen to foster dialogue, learn from and work with fellow international colleagues within and beyond the network, and help improve our experiences.
I’m a University Teaching Associate in Anatomy and Physiology in the School of Biosciences, where I also serve as Deputy Head of Employability. I’m from Chile, where I did my undergraduate studies and worked for several years before coming to the UK in 2017 to do a MSc at the University of Dundee. I completed my PhD at Sheffield in 2023, then worked at the University of Birmingham before returning to Sheffield. I’m eager to help fellow international staff to foster relationships with each other and the university, aiming to create a sense of belonging for our community.
I work in International Student Support, Advice and Compliance as an Immigration Adviser Manager. Originally from Germany, I’ve lived in the UK for 25 years now and have dual citizenship. I have family and friends in both countries and feel very much at home in both countries. I am one of the founding members of the network and would like to put myself forward for the position of communications committee member. I am proud to be part of an international community and believe having such a diverse workforce is bringing so much value to our University and is something that should be celebrated.
I’m a Technical Lead Engineer at the Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (AMRC), where I focus on the research and development of advanced technologies for the machining manufacturing industry. Originally from Mexico, I’ve been living in the UK for the past 12 years. I’m passionate about sharing my experiences as an immigrant and committed to supporting and representing international staff, helping to build a more inclusive and connected community across the University.
I work in the International Student Support, Advice and Compliance team as an Immigration Advice Manager. Originally from China, I came to the UK as an international student and have been working in Sheffield for the past 16 years. I am passionate about building connections with colleagues from around the world and committed to fostering a supportive and inclusive workplace culture. I would love to work with colleagues to create engaging opportunities that bring our international community together.
I work as a Research Associate at the School of Allied Health Professions, Nursing & Midwifery (AHPNM). I am actively engaged in exploring ‘Advanced therapeutic approaches to prevent stroke associated complications’. I am originally from India where I did my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees and worked in the research sector for a few years before I came to the UK in 2019 to do my PhD at Nottingham Trent University. I completed my PhD in 2023 and joined as a Post-doctoral research fellow in NTU before I moved to Sheffield in May, 2024. I really enjoy organizing events that bring the community together and build meaningful relationships. I am passionate about promoting cultural exchange, celebrating diversity and fostering an inclusive environment for all students.
