Joining FAQs

Do I need to make an application to join?

No, just fill out the application form. This form is not assessed, nor is there any kind of interview / acceptance process. Anyone who wants to join may do so.

Do I need any prior experience?

No, none at all! You will be taught everything you need to know by members with prior experience

Do I need a license / callsign to join?

Again, no! The club has a callsign that we can use on the air, you may operate this with our permission. If you want to transmit on your own, or have a personal callsign, then you will need a license but we will run classes teaching the knowledge required and arrange the simple test for you. And yes the test is simple, there have been people under the age of 10 get their licenses.

Does it cost anything to join?

No! Joining the club is free.
