CALL FOR PAPERS
Call for short communications (papers) until 23rd June
We invite those working to use or innovate Assistive Technolgy and associated services to submit short communications (papers) for presentation or as posters for Technology for Independence (T4I 2017). This year the conference will happen on Friday 15th September as part of the AAATE2017 Congress (11th to 15th Sept. 2017).
In 2016 T4I ran for the first time as a continuation of The Recent Advances in Assistive Technology and Engineering Conference (RAatE). The conference offers AT experts the opportunity to present to a unique, multi-disciplinary audience and the chance to meet and share knowledge with other people working in the field. AT users can share their experiences and wants for new AT.
NEW: Call for Contributions on Prosthetics
The NIHR Devices for Dignity Healthcare Technology Co-operative is leading a national initiative to develop a research collaboration in child prosthetics (http://devicesfordignity.org.uk/starworks_cp/). We would welcome short papers from experts working in the field of upper or lower limb prosthetics covering a range of key topics such as: development of new limbs to better integration of the limb with the body and mind. Accepted submissions will either be allocated a presentation slot or a poster.
This year the T4I board is keen to encourage practitioners and service providers with interesting case reports and service experiences to contribute. Research and development papers are also welcome and this is a unique opportunity for researchers to engage with Assistive Technology practitioners and service users.
This year we also invite proposals for workshops – 60-90 minute long sessions – for a greater in depth presentation and discussion with the audience. In addition to the short communication, proposers for workshops are asked to write no more than 1 side of A4 around what the audience will get from the workshop. We have limited capacity for these and so we anticipate competition will be high.
Deadline to submit your short communication (paper) was 26.05.2017.
New Deadline: 23.06.2017
This is due to the addition of the call for prosthetics. The Draft Programme is expected to be ready by 27.06.2017, so there will be no further extension to this deadline.
All submissions will be blind reviewed by the T4I 2017 review panel. Guidance on producing a submission can be found here and the required form for submission here. Please note that by submitting a short communication, authors accept that their final submission will be published online with a Creative Commons license 4.0 by the T4I organisers. Also note that a copy will be lodged by the organisers on an open repository ORDA (e.g. see T4I2016). This will happen within 10 days of the T4I 2017 conference.
Thirty days after the conference, authors of presented work are free to also place their final submission on open repositories such as ResearchGate, Academia.edu, White Rose, etc. and also place their presentations on SlideShare or some other maintained open access online location.
