This site is a work in progress and is being updated daily.
The aim of the challenge is to help you to settle in at the Management School, meet and get to know your coursemates and learn more about the support available for you at the university.
The Challenge
This year, the theme of the Dean’s Challenge is student wellbeing.
Your challenge is to create a 30 second video, working in groups of up to five from your programme cohort, that informs students about one of the following student wellbeing services:
The Disability and Dyslexia Support Service (DDSS),
SportSheffield, Clubs and Societies,
Student Union,
Report and Support,
Security,
Chaplaincy,
Student Advice Centre,
University Health Service,
University Counselling Service
You must also post your video to Instagram (make sure it is posted on a public account so we can see it!), tagging @uos_management, with #programme and #WelcometoSUMS22 in the description, to ensure your video attracts lots of social media engagement.
Once you have posted your video, please also email your video to sums-marketing@sheffield.ac.uk, including the names of all those in your team, your course and your year. Please include ‘Dean’s Challenge’ in the subject line.
Your deadline is Friday 23rd September at 12pm.
The Prizes
The best team in each programme will be awarded vouchers. You will receive a £30 Sheffield City Gift Card per person in your team.
The best out of all the teams will receive funding to organise a social event for the programme cohort later in the academic year in conjunction with the Management School.
The Criteria for the Winning Video
The winning videos will be ones that the Management School’s Marketing Team would want to use as part of our marketing material.
Quality. We are looking for good quality videos that run well in social media and on our webpage
Information. Ensure your video is informative and helpful for your fellow students in learning about the University of Sheffield’s Wellbeing services.
Professionalism. Your message needs to be delivered in a professional manner, well articulated and clear.
Engagement. We will take into consideration how much social engagement your video is able to attract in likes, shares and comments by 12pm, 30 September.
Data Protection and Consent
We strongly recommend that only the people in your group appear in the video.
If other people are interviewed or appear in the video, please ensure you have their permission and use the Template Release forms for people in shot.
Student Code of Conduct
Please remember you are representing the University of Sheffield and the Management School. We are expecting good behaviour from all our students at all times. https://www.sheffield.ac.uk/study/policies/student-code-conduct
