A trade union is nothing more than a group of workers getting organised to defend their interests and win improvements. Unite is led by its members and would only ever take strike action if members voted for it.
Talks have been constructive and we hope that the SU will be ready to offer significant improvements to casual pay and conditions soon. However, there is a chance we may need to take action to win these improvements.
We absolutely do not want to get to the point of taking strike action.
If we are forced to that point, however, we need to be ready. And to take action with the full legal and financial protection of the union, casual staff will need to be members of Unite.
You need to pay to be a member of Unite so the union can defend its members while staying fully independent from bosses and the government.
When the campaign succeeds, your membership dues will be more than covered by the pay rise we win. But to guarantee success, everyone needs to sign up. Join Unite today!
