How do I get access?
Applying for access
- Internal (University of Sheffield) researchers:
The application process for internal researchers is as follows:
A. Feasibility discussion of your problem, samples and project with a member of X-ray Facility staff *this is essential before you make a proposal*;
B. Addition to Blackboard Facility site, reading the tips for experimental design document and aligned information. All of the Centre information is hosted on Blackboard - please get in touch if you would like to be added;
C. Completion of the mandatory training on Blackboard (lab induction currently not occurring due to COVID):
i) Agreement to user rules and responsibilities, and Facility terms and conditions,
ii) Safety Training Centre (which includes mandatory health and safety information);
D. Completing and submitting relevant risk assessments and COSHH for your samples/experiments - these should be added to the X-ray CT RA and COSHH Google Drive folders (contact Ria to be added to the folder);
E. Completing the Academic Support Form/Unfunded Access Form;
F. Submitting the online (Google Form) Proposal Application Form.

The PC workstations can be booked via our booking system - please contact us to request access to the system.

Core Facility opening hours
9:00 - 16:00, Monday to Friday. Remote access to workstations will be available 24/7.
