Adopt a Charity helps societies and individuals fundraise for charities of their choice through Sheffield Students' Union.
Societies and clubs are able to claim back 45% of money raised for themselves. We recently introduced a self-fundraising scheme to help student groups fund bigger events or necessary purchases, like expensive equipment, larger charity events, or even 24-hour musicals.
If you are a society that would like to raise funds with the help of Sheffield RAG, Adopt a Charity is the first point of contact.
The Adopt-a-Charity scheme helps provide resources and support to clubs and societies that are part of Sheffield Students' Union.
We can provide you with fundraising pages, online fundraising, health & safety, permits and more. We also help with room bookings, ticket creation and resources (think glitter and raffle tickets)!
We will donate the money to your chosen charity for you. Our process follows strict charity and fundraising law, ensuring charities receive the correct amounts, under proper process, in good time.
Our support ranges anywhere from a bake sale to a charity hike to a bar crawl glitter stand. We try to support any idea a society has, no matter how big, small or wacky!

As we are a small team, we need 2 weeks notice for regular events, and over 4 weeks for larger scale events.
We are not always able to support every event. We will always attempt to reschedule your event if this is the case.
AAC offers a claim back scheme where clubs/societies can "claim back" up to 45% of the money they raise. A good way to think of this is that you are fundraising for yourselves as well as your chosen charity, and we strongly advise you to advertise this to provide full transparency to any donors. This money is transferred into your society account for the next year unless requested earlier.
We do also offer reimbursements; so if you were to pay for any costs to put on your fundraiser i.e. ingredient costs etc. We will reimburse you those exact costs from the money raised once you provide a receipt of purchase. This is different because you aren't making any profit for yourselves, you are just covering the cost of putting on the event.
Money is donated at the end of each term. Usually in January, April and July. This will differ year-by-year. All charities will recieve funds by August of the academic year.
