AI at the British Library

Dr Mia Ridge, British Library

The British Library has been working with AI and related approaches –big data, deep neural networks, data science, machine learning, etc – for many years. This presentation will present examples of experiments, pilots and collaborations that have helped the Library understand the potential and challenges of AI with library collections for research and discovery.


About the speaker. Dr Mia Ridge is the British Library’s Digital Curator for Western Heritage Collections. Part of the Digital Research team, she provides advice and training on computational research, AI / machine learning and crowdsourcing. A Co-Investigator on Living with Machines (2018-23), she co-curated the Living with Machines exhibition with Leeds Museums and Galleries (2022-23).
