Project ACE team is working closley with the locals to tackle fuel poverty of the community, improve energy efficiency of the centre and increase awareness of the public on how to reduce their energy bills.

Chair of The Westfield Big Local, Mr Mike Peat, said:

"Westfield Big Local, a Big Lottery funded community group based in South East Sheffield, was awarded £1M about three years ago. Our Westfield Community identified their need for a base to work from.....

After a number of years of negotiations we were able to take over the lease to run a local Council building from Sheffield City Council called [com.unity] this is located in the centre of our Community... Through a contact at Sheffield University we had the offer from a small group of students who are engaged on "Project ACE".... They have become experts in conducting Energy Performance investigations in Public buildings in and around Sheffield. Their report revealed that we could reduce the energy consumption in our building com.unity, recovering the cost of the work in about two years.... We were amazed and very pleased and will be presenting the Project ACE report on Thursday 27th July to our Partnership meeting, where we expect our colleagues to endorse the necessary spend on insulation and rectification work".
