Placement Year Photo Competition!

• As you start your placement year journey, we want you to send us a picture of something that represents your time on placement so far!

• As it’s a photo competition, we want you to be creative and bring your placement to life through an image.

• Why not check out some photos from previous competitions (2023-2024 ,2024-2025 or 2025-2026) within the Faculty of Engineering!

How to enter!

1. The photo can be of you, something which represents your experiences to date, the view from your office window, a project or something you have been working on! Remember to get your employers permission if your photo is taken on work premises or is of work that you’re doing.

2. Upload a photo and a short description (50-100 words) about what the picture displays to this Google form.

Details of the Competition:

1. The competition opens on the 5th January 2026 and closes on the 30th January 2026. Voting will take place by this Google form from the 9th February 2026 and will close on the 16th February 2026. Winners will be contacted by email on the 27th February 2026. 😁

2. Once the competition has closed, these photos will then be displayed online (faculty Instagram's and on this website) where students and staff across the University will vote which is their favourite.

• Instagram = Faculty of Arts and Humanities, Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Social Sciences, or the Faculty of Science.

3. By entering the competition, Entrants consent to the use of still images and understand that contributions may be used in all media now known, or which may be used in the future. 

4. Entrants understand that the producers are not obliged to use these images. 

5. Entrants consent to the use of their personal data being used for future publicity in accordance with the provisions of the General Data Protection Regulation 2018 

Eligibility: 

1. All Entrants must be from The University of Sheffield and currently on placement via 'Industrial Placement', 'Degree with Employment Experience', or 'Placement Year'.

2. All Entrants must either be from the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Social Sciences, or the Faculty of Science.

3. One entry per entrant!

4. The prize is the voucher amount(s) as detailed in the competition publicity. One prize of £50 (Amazon voucher) per faculty winner - vouchers cannot be exchanged for cash.

5. Winners will be contacted after the closing date to confirm collection/delivery of prizes. Valid identification may be required to collect the prize. 

Anyone who enters the Competition (an “Entrant”) will be deemed to have read and accepted these Specific Rules and the Competition Terms and Conditions, and will be bound by them.
