Guest Post: Cathryn James- Clinical Support Manager for AACE
"Attending people who have fallen is a very common call to the ambulance service, with many people who fall being older and often living with frailty and other health conditions.
Many people can’t get up from the floor, and we know this is very distressing and causes harm. Sometimes a person is unable to call for help, or it can sometimes be a long time before help arrives.
There is so much we don’t understand about the impact of a ‘long lie’ . We welcome this research and we are keen for the results to help inform us so we can improve our guidance to ambulance clinicians, help understand how we can best respond to people who fall and ultimately improve the care to our patients who experience a fall."
