Chief Investigator
Fiona is a Professor of Health Services Research and Director of the Centre for Urgent and Emergency Care Research (CURE) in ScHARR. Fiona's expertise lies in undertaking large or complex mixed methods research projects, with a particular interest in qualitative work and ethnography. She has led and contributed to a wide range of NIHR funded health service research projects, particularly within the field of prehospital, urgent and emergency care.
Sponsor Representative and Co-Investigator
Fiona is the Head of Research at Yorkshire Ambulance Service NHS Trust (YAS). She is also an honorary research fellow at the University of Sheffield as part of a formal academic partnership between ScHARR and YAS.
As study sponsor representative, Fiona is responsible for the study design and monitoring study conduct.
PPI Lead and Co-Investigator
Jo is a Research Fellow and Deputy Director of the Centre for Urgent and Emergency Care (CURE). Jo's speciality is in complex mixed methods research, with a focus on quality of care, patient safety and emergency, urgent and prehospital care. Jo is PPI lead for the study.
Project Manager and Co-Investigator
Maxine is a Research Fellow in the School of Population Health and is also the NIHR Applied Research Collaboration Yorkshire and Humber Theme Manager for Urgent and Emergency Care. Maxine has expertise in both qualitative and quantitative research methods. She is currently completing a PhD on the White Rose Doctoral Training Pathway (Health and Wellbeing), using a mixed methods approach to explore intersectionality.
Statistician and Co-Investigator
Jen is a Research Fellow in the School of Medicine and Population Health. Jen's expertise is in routinely collected healthcare data, particularly in urgent and emergency care. Jen will be leading WP1 and 2 alongside Richard Pilbery, and will be working with the CUREd+ dataset.
Research Associate
Charlotte is a Research Associate in the School of Medicine and Population Health, with an interest in mixed methods research and complex systems. Charlotte is primarily interested in qualitative research exploring patient-centred care in pre-hospital settings.
Research Paramedic and Co-Investigator
Richard is a Paramedic Research Fellow at the Yorkshire Ambulance Service NHS Trust and also holds an Honorary research contract with the University of Sheffield. Richard is an expert in health data analysis and will be leading WP1 & 2 alongside Jen Lewis and WP3, alongside Lyn Wilson.
Professor of Emergency Medicine
Sue is a NIHR Senior Investigator, Deputy director and theme lead for Urgent Care in the NIHR Applied Research Centre Yorkshire and Humber, and National ARC Lead for Urgent and Emergency Care. She is the project lead for the CUREd+ research database which collates NHS data about Urgent and Emergency Care services in Yorkshire and Humber, and is being used in WP1 and WP2.
Sue divides her time between the University of Sheffield and as a Honorary Consultant in Emergency Medicine and Clinical Director for Research and Development at Barnsley Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
Lead Research Nurse at Mid Yorkshire Hospitals Teaching Hospital Trust
Lyn leads the Research Delivery Team at Mid Yorkshire NHS Teaching trust and is responsible for supporting a number of studies throughout the research lifecycle. Lyn is a co-applicant on the study and will be supporting WP3 alongside Richard Pilbery and Valentine Ngwa.
Consultant at Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust
Valentine is a Consultant Physician specialising in both elderly medicine and acute medicine, which includes complex patients with multiple interacting medical and social problems. Valentine is a co-applicant on the study and will be supporting WP3 alongside Richard Pilbery and Lyn Wilson.
Professor of Alcohol Policy
Colin is based within the Sheffield Addictions Research group and has expertise in a broad range of quantitative approaches. Colin has a strong interest in health inequalities and understanding the potential for public health policy to improve or exacerbate these.
Policy Director of the National Care Forum
Liz is the lead for the policy and research team at the National Care Forum, responsible for membership support and engagment as well as leading the research work of the organisation.
Research Associate
Katie is a research associate in health services research with experience of working with people living with dementia, their carers and their care workers.
Katie will be supporting qualitative work packages of the study as well as community and stakeholder engagement and will be applying her knowledge of the Enhanced Health in Care Homes Framework.
