How long does the study take?
The child activities take approximately 1–2 hours in total. A parent or caregiver will also complete an online questionnaire, which takes around 40 minutes.
Can my child complete the activities over several days?
Yes. The study can be completed over a period of up to two weeks, allowing your child to complete the activities at a pace that suits them.
Does my child need to finish everything in one sitting?
No. Children are welcome to take breaks whenever they need to, and the activities can be completed across multiple sessions.
What device do we need?
The study can be completed using a computer or tablet with an internet connection. We recommend using the most up-to-date version of your web browser for the best experience.
Is my child eligible?
Your child is eligible if they are currently 6–9 years old and live in the United Kingdom.
What if i have more than one child?
If more than one of your children is eligible, they are welcome to take part. Please complete a separate registration form for each child.
My child has additional learning needs—can they still take part?
Yes. All children are welcome to take part. If you have any questions about whether the study is suitable for your child, please contact us at LearningGames@sheffield.ac.uk and we will be happy to help.
What if my child wears glasses or has a hearing impairment?
Children who wear glasses or use hearing aids are welcome to take part. If you have any concerns about whether the study will be accessible for your child, please contact us at LearningGames@sheffield.ac.uk before registering.
When will we receive the £40 voucher?
Families will receive their £40 GiftPay voucher after all required parts of the study have been completed.

Every child learns differently. This research aims to improve our understanding of how children learn and develop, helping to inform future research and educational practice.
What is LEVANTE?
LEVANTE (Learning Variability Network Exchange) is an international research collaboration studying how children learn and develop across different countries, cultures and educational settings.
Will my child's information be kept confidential?
Yes. Your child's information will be handled confidentially and in accordance with data protection regulations. Further details about how your data will be used and protected will be provided before you decide whether to take part.
Will you contact us again?
After completing this study, your child may be invited to take part in follow-up studies next summer and again the following summer. Taking part in any future research is entirely optional.
