We are looking for children aged 6–9 years to take part in an online research study exploring how children learn and think.
The study is run by the School of Psychology at the University of Sheffield as part of the international LEVANTE (Learning Variability Network Exchange) project. Children from many countries, including Canada, Argentina, Switzerland, Ghana, Italy, India, the United States and Australia, are taking part to help researchers better understand children's learning and development around the world.
Your child will complete a series of fun online learning activities using your own computer or tablet at home.
The activities include:
memory games
learning the meanings of new words
simple maths activities
answering questions about how they think and learn
The activities are designed to be engaging and suitable for children aged 6–9 years.
The is also a survey for the caregiver, which will take 30-40 minutes to complete.
The child activities take approximately 1.5-2 hours in total - it varies a little bit depending on how long each child thinks about each question.
They can be completed over a period of up to two weeks, or all in one day if you prefer. Children are welcome to take breaks whenever they need to.
A parent or caregiver will also be asked to complete an online questionnaire, which takes approximately 30-40 minutes.
Families who complete the study will receive a £40 GiftPay voucher, which can be redeemed at over 100 UK retailers.
You can find more information on the Rewards page.
After completing this study, your child will be invited to take part in follow-up activities next summer and again the following summer.
Taking part in future studies is entirely optional, and you can opt out at any time.
Complete our Register Your Interest form to receive more detailed information about the study and instructions on how to sign up when recruitment opens later this summer.
