If you are enthusiastic about science and are looking to pursue a PhD then we want to hear from you!Â
We have multiple competitive interdisciplinary UKRI-funded PhD studentships available. All the projects are collaborative in nature and will provide a great opportunity to learn science in a fun, supportive and nurturing environment and start your career in STEM. Please email Indrajit (I.Lahiri@sheffield.ac.uk) for any informal enquiries.
1) A BBSRC-funded CASE studentship to understand the biophysics behind organellar genome organisation in Plasmodium. This project will combine cryoEM with NMR, single molecule optical tweezers and single molecule FRET. Beyond the opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research, you will have the benefit of working extensively with Exciting Instruments, a leadeing company in single molecule biophysics instrumentation.
2) A BBSRC-funded studentship to study the architecture of stress-responsive nuclear condensates and their role in diseases like cancer. This project will combine cutting-edge cell biology and modern cryoEM to develop a holistic high-resolution picture of the nuclear condensates.
3) An EPSRC-funded studentship to decipher how post-translational modifications activate enzymes involved in photosynthesis. The project will combine cutting-edge enzymology with cryoEM, NMR and SACS to form a mechanistic picture of how a tiny post-translational modification can bring about a major activation of an enzymatic pathway.
