In 2018-19 the Jessop West Green Impact team supported the charity HARC (Homeless and Rootless at Christmas).

Founded in Sheffield in 1989, HARC provides a safe haven for vulnerable men and women during the day over the Christmas period when other services were closed.

The Jessop west green impact team have been working closely in collaboration with the green impact team for the Information School to raise awareness and support the S6 Foodbank.
~
The S6 foodbank acts as a lifeline in the Sheffield community to provide emergency food to people in crisis.
Every day people in the UK go hungry for reasons ranging from redundancy to receiving an unexpected bill on a low income. A simple box of food makes a big difference, with foodbanks helping prevent crime, housing loss, family breakdown and mental health problems.
We have created local donation points in Jessop West foyer and Regent Court to make donating items easier for UOS staff and students.

The book swap was introduced several years ago by the Green Impact team and has been so popular that it is still running today.
Book swap works on the premise that you bring in a book you have already read and no longer want and swap it for a new read!
The book swap is located in Jessop West foyer.
As part of our Green Impact activity, we are pleased to inform you that we are now able to recycle old writing implements on behalf of a local charity called TASTE.
TASTE send all of the objects collected to Terracycle and for a minimum 15kg donation, they receive a cash amount which is used to fund the construction of boreholes to provide clean drinking water in disadvantaged communities in Nigeria.
Items acceptable for recycling are:
There is a collection box on the windowsill in the Jessop West foyer for anything that you wish to add.
