Regulations for 2021-22 and Before

level 1

Passing Level 1

Students will be permitted to proceed from Level 1 to Level 2:

This will appear on the student record as "P" (i.e. Pass).

OR

At the discretion of the Examiners*

This will appear on the student record as "PC" (i.e. Conceded Pass).

*This is not automatic and will be the decision of the Exam Board.

Students will only be eligible to apply for the Study Abroad Scheme if they attain a grade of 60 and pass Level 1.

level 2

Passing Level 2

Students will be permitted to proceed from Level 2 to Level 3:

This will appear on the student record as "M" (i.e. Progress to MEng).

OR

At the discretion of the Examiners*

This will appear on the student record as "MC" (i.e. Conceded Pass to MEng).

*This is not automatic and will be the decision of the Exam Board. Permission to proceed on a MEng programme will be given on the basis of examination performance and other criteria. There is no absolute right to proceed for those students who obtain relevant weighted mean grade.

** Although University Regulations permit students to be considered to proceed on MEng programmes as outlined above, in practice the Examiners normally require students to have achieved a weighted mean grade of ≥ 54.5 in order to proceed.

Students will only be eligible to apply for the Study Abroad Scheme if they attain a grade of 60 and pass Level 2.

Not Meeting the MEng Progression Threshold

Students who do not satisfy the requirements to proceed onto Level 3 of BIEU19 Bioengineering will be permitted to transfer to Level 3 BIEU20 BEng Bioengineering if they have met the progression criteria

Students will be permitted to proceed from Level 3 to Level 4:

This will appear on the student record as "P" (i.e. Pass).

This will appear on the student record as "PC" (i.e. Conceded Pass).

Failing Level 3

Resitting Level 3 Modules for Credit

Passing Level 4

Students will be awarded an MEng degree:

It should be noted that Level 4 modules have a pass grade of 50.
