You will need to create an account to access the EWB resources. It is totally free - please use your University of Sheffield email address. Select the Centre for Aprropriate Technology from the design challenges available.
- Linked here is a step-by-step sign-up document
- Here is the video on how to use the website and log in.
The EWB website is not the easiest to navigate! Before GEC try and find your way around and collect 4 pieces of information to share with your team. Look in this section 'Engineering for People Design Challenge - Govan'.
Throughout GEC you will be building and developing many skills: in teamwork, in communication, in remote collaboration, in time management.
As you progress through GEC, use this skills audit to keep a note of these skills and collect examples where you have had to use them.
By doing this you are building a valuable resource for future placement, YII and job applications
If you have already done this audit as part of your programme, complete this again as you will have learnt lots since the last time you audited!

Throughout GEC, you'll be looking at the UN sustainable development goals. These are a series of ambitious targets to end extreme poverty and hunger, fight inequality and injustice, and tackle climate change, by 2030.
I'd really recommend watching this short film from the UN (34 mins): “Nations United – Urgent Solutions for Urgent Times” – It describes the action needed to build a better world, as COVID-19 threatens decades of global progress
