Hello and welcome to the Faculty of Science and congratulations on securing a place at the University of Sheffield. This website is intended to help ease your transition into your University studies and provides an introduction into accessing your main online learning and teaching resources, as well as the wide range of student computing and academic services available to you. Essentially, to bring together a host of resources together into one place to help familiarise you before your arrival and during Introduction Week. You may also want to use this site as a 'refresher' that you can refer back to during your first year.

Pre-arrival Tasks

Before you arrive at Sheffield to start your studies and during your Intro Week, there will be some key tasks to undertake such as sorting your accommodation and completing your pre-registration tasks. This section gives a brief overview of the main items to complete in order to help you settle in comfortably and get familiar with the University.

Intro and Induction Week

Information from your School or Department (Biosciences, Chemistry, Maths & Statistics, Physics, Psychology) for events taking place during Introduction and Induction week. Monday 19 September - Friday 23 September (Introduction); Monday 26 September - Friday 30 September (Induction).

University Essentials

To support your studies online, you will use a range of platforms and tools to help facilitate your learning and associated computing and IT support. This section provides an overview of the core services and tools you will regulary use like Blackboard (the University's Virtual Learning Environment) and Turnitin for coursework eSubmission.
