Cross-Faculty Fundraiser 2023

The FoH RSA and the PGRC have combined once again to host the second annual festive cross-faculty fundraiser and networking event aimed at STEM-based ECRs.

This event aimed at fundraising for the Sheffield Children’s Hospital and included several activities, live music, and refreshments. This was also a great opportunity to network with PGRs and post-docs from across the university, as well as industry sponsors!

FoH RSA Annual General Meeting (AGM)

Have you ever asked yourself: Can I have input into decisions the university makes? Are there resources for FoH research staff? Are there events for research staff?

If so, come and join the FoH RSA (Faculty of Health Research Staff Association) Annual General Meeting held on November 22nd 2023 (Hybrid Format with a free lunch for face to face attendees!) and discover what the RSA is, what events we have, what we can do for you and how you can join the committee (if you want to!).

Open to ALL RESEARCH STAFF (early career researchers, contract research staff and technicians) within the Faculty of Health. Register here by the 8th of November.

Soak a Scientist 2023

We at the FoH RSA would like to thank everyone who participated and supported Soak A Scientist which was held on 19th August at Endcliffe Park. Together with the South Yorkshire MND Association, we have successfully raised £800, which will directly contribute to support investigation on MND.

The 18th Annual Medical School Research Meeting

Mon 17th - Tue 18th July 2023

The Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry, and Health hosted the annual School Research Meeting once again. This year's theme was 'Careers and Collaboration', with a keynote lecture by Professor Jan Hoejimakers of Erasmus University Medical Center.

Festive Cross-faculty Fundraiser

Friday 2nd December 2022, Firth Hall, 6-10pm.

The MDHRSA in collaboration with MDH PGR Society hosted their first annual Festive Cross-faculty Fundraiser for the Sheffield Children's Hospital. This event featured a unique opportunity to network with early career researchers from across the STEM faculties. There was cheese & wine (with non-alcoholic & vegan options available), live music and festive activities. The event was free, however the attendees were invited to make a contribution to our JustGiving page for the Sheffield Children's Hospital in lieu of purchasing a ticket.

The MDH Research Staff Association are keen to get everyone back into the swing of face-to-face scientific meetings and general networking... it has been a while! So to get us started, we are hosting an informal MDH mini-series of talks as a chance to meet some new colleagues over cake and coffee, present your research and find out about others' work in the faculty.

This series is sponsored by a number of life science companies, who will each have stalls and is a good chance to make connections outside the academic environment.

Since we know it is hard to fit these things in, we are offering a bribe-(ahem)-incentive in the form of a £50 love2shop voucher for the best talk at each event.

So please come along, chat to your fellow colleagues, interact with the reps... and did we mention cake?
