Culture Shock

Now four years running, we are continuing our popular programme Culture Shock - the Best Movies You’ve Never Seen. This is a weekly celebration of the under-seen side of cinema; it aims to bring you a hand-picked list of great films which many never get the chance to see. This elite club includes cult favourites like Son of the White Mare, hardcore grit-fests like Audition, and the just plain surreal (Daisies comes to mind...)

So whenever you see the Culture Shock logo on a film, just know that although you may not have heard of it, it's a highly curated spot in the programme, and no doubt you'll leave with a new favourite, or at the least a strong opinion! 

OSCARS SEASON:

Each year when the Oscars long list is released to the public, Film Unit brings many of the nominees from the past year back to the big screen. 

We have had some of the biggest hits of Best Picture (like Parasite and The Shape of Water), and some of the biggest upsets such as 2025's Anora win! We also don't shy away from the snubs... 

Keep an eye out for each year's Spring Programme to see any nominations you might have missed, or weren't on in the multiplexes.
