This project requires multiple disciplinary efforts to cover a wide spectrum of knowledge from academic, technology and industry. The nature of the project team will ensure that impact of the work is optimal as the team brings together leading researchers in the field of data fusion, machine learning and precision agriculture from both the UK and China (Ant Data Ltd, Sheffield University, IIM and ZK Intelligent Sensing), and integrates them with leading agricultural research and extension institutions from UK and China (Velcourt and HJIS). The synergy of the consortium ensures that developments within the project are directly applicable to the agricultural end user.

The OAK (Organisation, Information and Knowledge) at the University of Sheffield has extensive research and development expertise in a number of relevant areas including mobile sensing, Internet of Things, e-healthcare, data analytics, system-of-systems, computer games and visualisation. The relevant projects in these areas include EU-funded projects such as City Sense (Public England funded), Eyes On the Groud (H2020 funded), Seeing with MyOwnEyes(H2020 funded), as well as other relevant projects funded by organisations such as the UK research council EPSRC, UK Government and industry.
Dr Po Yang is a Senior Lecturer in Large-scale Data Fusion at the University of Sheffield. He has generated over 90 international journal and conference papers in the fields of Pervasive Healthcare, Image Processing, and internet of things (IoT) applications.

Velcourt Ltd
Velcourt is a farm management and advisory company managing approximately 60,000ha of land across the UK and providing farm management and independent agronomy advice to 3rd party businesses both in the UK and abroad. To support the management decisions there is an internal R&D department managing 5,000 small plot replicated trials across the country to independently test products and programmes. All farm managers are BASIS qualified and make the agronomic decisions on the farm with support from the technical team. Velcourt is continually looking to improve farming practices, measure and quantify what we are doing and protect the natural environment through the better-targeted use of inputs.
