The Fabric Construct

Castlegate has slipped into a state of depression. Can bringing ‘making’ back to Castlegate and enjoying its potential as a performance mend the area’s loss of the past? The shift towards mass production and globalisation has altered the original nature of craft. The Fabric Construct is a new centre for both analogue and digital makers to shape the future of textile making. The project provides workshops, exhibition spaces and retail spaces where a fusion of traditional and contemporary textile making methods can be demonstrated to the public.
