Enrollment Options

Blended/Hybrid (Enrichment, Acceleration, or Scheduling Conflict)

Single Online Course Option

Students can choose to enroll in one online course for many reasons.  Some students will find that there is a course they want/need to take, but it doesn’t fit into their schedule due to a scheduling conflict.  They can opt to enroll in that course online as part of the ROA program.  Other students may be looking for a course that directly correlates to their career objective.  Some students could be enrolling in a course for credit recovery because they neglected to earn credit the first time they took a course.  No matter the reason, the ROA is here to help provide students with a complete learning experience.

Hybrid or Blended Schedule Option

Some students will choose to enroll in 1-2 courses online.  They can complete that coursework in the ROA classroom, the high school library or also have the flexibility to leave campus to complete their online courses if their schedule allows it.  This gives students the flexibility to learn at their own pace while also enjoying the benefits of taking college courses, employment at a local business or the flexibility in their schedule that allows them to attend the HCCTC.

Full Time ROA Student

Some students will opt to take all of their coursework online working from home.  These students have the most flexibility in their daily schedules.  They complete their school work each week, but have the ability to complete coursework on their own schedule and at their own pace within that week timeframe.  Fully online students need to be dedicated to completing their coursework and also be independent enough that they will ask for help when it is needed. The Online Coordinator of ROA will require students to come for additional monitoring if academic goals are not being met. The district will provide 8 credits.  Additional credits will be the responsibility of the parent/guardian and/or student.

Students with an IEP or GIEP

The Southern Huntingdon County School District provides a special education program in accordance with federal and state regulations/guidelines to ensure the provision of a free appropriate public education (FAPE) to all school-age children in need of such services. During enrollment and orientation into the ROA, student records for special education, Section 504 agreements, and gifted services will be reviewed.

Summer School/Credit Recovery

Summer School

Southern Huntingdon County School District students in grades 6-12 who are seeking remediation in order to pass the course for the year are eligible for summer school. A passing grade must be attainable before enrolling. Students who need an average over 100% will not be considered. Students may enroll in two courses.

Students in grades 9-12 will be offered 1/4 of a credit, which is equivalent to one nine weeks. Students in grades 6-8 will be offered 1/4 of a school year, which is also equivalent to one nine weeks.

Credit Recovery

The parent/guardian and/or student will be required to pay for credit recovery courses. A half credit can be earned each semester.
