We will end the 2019-2020 school year preparing for the 2020-2021 school year. As part of this preparation, we will be ensuring that our curriculum maps are transferred to our new format and location, and that they are up-to-date. Please work with one another to complete all maps by June 5.
The following videos (linked below) have been made to help explain the new curriculum map process and the work you will complete:
It is suggested that staff be available to work and connect with one another from 9:00-11:30 and from 1:00-3:00. That being said, you may work together outside of these suggested times - just be sure to communicate with your map teammates and the assigned administrator.
Our curriculum maps are now located in a new Curriculum Map Shared Drive. At the moment, everyone should have full editing rights to this Shared Drive. If you find that you do not have editing rights, please email Mark Carl.
In the Curriculum Map Shared Drive you will see a set of folders identified by grade level. Inside of these you will find subject-specific folders. Teachers will place new/updated maps in these folders. Pivot maps have also been downloaded into these folders for reference. Remember, teachers will lose access to Pivot at the end of the 2019-2020 school year.
Below the grade level folders, you will also see a set of map templates. You will use these templates as you update/build the new maps. There is a map template for most subjects. If you do not see your specific subject listed, please choose the OTHER Map Template.

Connect with your map teammates via Google Meet to review what must be accomplished, to make an action plan, and to communicate with one another.
For K-6 teachers:
Your Google Meets have already been created and are listed on the map assignment documents listed above.
For 7-12 teachers:
Review the map assignment sheet to see who is assigned to what maps.
Connect with your teammates to decide who will set up the Google Meet.
Paste a link to the Meet on the map assignment sheet so that the administrators can connect with you as well.
Make a copy of the map templates you need and complete the following:
Alter the header to match the quarter, grade level, and subject area/course. Please follow the naming convention already in the header.
Add the standards- focus and priority
Use New 2020 Standards (ELA, Math, & SS). A comparison chart that lists any changes is available on each subject's standard page.
Copy and paste standards from IDOE (links to the standards are on the templates).
Don't worry about computer science standards. They will be determined at a later time (by 2021-2022).
Add “I Can…” statements from IDOE Frameworks for Math, Literacy, and Science.
Add common assessments (with changes noted if editing textbook assessments)
Add vocabulary from the Frameworks - only for standards on the curriculum map.
FOR K-6 ELA MAPS ONLY
Add link the Writing Prompt Site.
FOR 4-12 SCI & SOC ST MAPS ONLY
Add common projects.
For grades 6-12, add the appropriate content literacy standards (link provided on the template).
FOR K-8 MATH MAPS ONLY
FIRST
Create a NEW map for EACH topic using the MTH TOPIC Map Template.
Copy and paste information from the PDF maps downloaded from Pivot (or log onto Pivot to get the information) into the new MTH TOPIC Map.
Update “I Can…” statements and vocabulary from the Math Framework.
Add any other information as needed.
Place the new topic maps in your grade level math folder.
THEN
Create a quarter map for EACH QUARTER using the MTH QUARTER Map Template and insert a link to the topic maps that will be used for that quarter.
Make sure that all maps are named correctly and stored in the appropriate grade level/subject area folder. If you need help getting them into the correct location, please reach out to Mark or Diane.
Please reference your most recent grade level curriculum meeting agenda for notes.
Please work with one another to complete all maps by June 5.
If your map work is complete, feel free to knock out a few of the state-required training modules.
