State-Required Training Modules

Please read carefully before completing any of the training modules listed below.

The State of Indiana has created a list of training that school employees must complete. Each training has different requirements with regard to who must complete it, the modality of the training itself, and how often it must be completed. For a complete list of state-required trainings, please visit the IDOE Legalistic Affairs page on the IDOE website.

The corporation has created the SH Training Tracker to record the completion of ONLY state-required training modules. Staff will find themselves associated with their primary work location (e.g. CES, HCELC, MAINTENANCE, etc.). The tracker notes the date that staff completes a training and must be manually updated periodically. Please note that the SH Training Tracker may not be completely up-to-date when you look at it. If you see a discrepancy, please contact Mark Carl.

While the corporation must provide training opportunities, it is up to the individual staff member to provide verification of training completion. Please consult the SH Training Tracker and identify the trainings that YOU must complete based on your position. If your name is missing or you see inaccurate/missing information, please contact Mark Carl.

Training Modules

Each of the links below will take you to a Google form. You must be logged into your SH Google account to access these forms. Within each form, you will be asked to provide some identifying information before you will be provided with a link to the training materials. The link will open a new tab in your browser. Most trainings involve the viewing of a presentation. Some have embedded videos. A few trainings will take you to an external site where you must view training materials.

After completing a training, you must return to the Google form to verify your attendance. A certificate of completion will automatically be emailed to you (except for the suicide module). Please save these certificates for your records. The SH Training Tracker will be manually updated in June to reflect your work. There is no need to send your certificate to your principal or to Mark Carl.

The following state-required trainings are the only ones available to be completed at this time:

• Bullying Prevention

  • • Required for "employees and volunteers who have direct, ongoing contact with students." No frequency given.

      • • This training will take approximately 60 minutes to complete.

• Child Abuse and Neglect (We previously held this training at the 2019 Summer Institute.)

  • • Required once every two years for "school employee likely to have direct, ongoing contact with children within the scope of the employee's employment."

      • • This training will take approximately 60 minutes to complete.

• Criminal Organization Policy

  • • Required for "school employees." No frequency given.

      • • This training will take approximately 60-90 minutes to complete .

• Human Trafficking (We previously held this training on November 5, 2019.)

  • • Required once every two years for "school employees likely to have direct, ongoing contact with children within the scope of the employee’s employment."

      • • This training will take approximately 60 minutes to complete.

• Indiana Education for Homeless Children and Youth

  • • Required annually for "the school corporation homeless education liaison, teachers, paraprofessionals, and support staff."

      • • This training will take approximately 30 minutes to complete.

• Suicide (We previously held this training on May 28, 2019.)

  • • Required every three years for "all teachers that provide instruction to students in any combination of grades 5-12. 'Teacher' includes: superintendent; principals; librarian; school counselor; school psychologist; school nurse; and school social worker."

      • • Most staff have completed this training. If you have not, Mr. Cordray will have been in contact with you with the information you need.

All staff currently employed by South Harrison must be able to provide verification of completion of the above trainings by May 29, 2020, if asked.
