Reading with your child at home is important! Maybe it is part of your bedtime routine or maybe it is sitting on the couch together. However you read at home all children need the opportunity to be read to and to read aloud to you. When you, a successful reader, read aloud to your child you are modeling how to use expression and tone in your voice. You are also showing a love for reading that will hopefully transfer to your child. It is also important to have time that your child reads aloud to you. While they read to you you can prompt them to figure out tricky words by looking at the picture or stretching out the word. You can stop and have conversations about new vocabulary words or the plot of the story. Reading is a blast! Enjoy your reading time with your child!
