For students in elementary school, literacy is a key to lifelong learning and opportunities for success. Therefore, our K-5 literacy enrichment team is an integral component of ELA (English Language Arts) instruction at Seven Hills Preparatory Academy (SHPA). Our specialists pull out students during each grade level's WIN time (What I Need) to help them meet their individual learning needs, by working in small groups.
Our literacy enrichment team combines multiple research-based methods and strategies to meet the diverse learning needs of SHPA's student population, based on the science of reading. Literacy specialists utilize explicit instruction to develop phonemic awareness, engage students in oral reading to develop their fluency, and promote students' reading comprehension through research-supported techniques and strategies.

My name is Ania Wrase and I am a K-5 Literacy Specialist here at Seven Hills Preparatory Academy. I am excited to start my 12th year here! I received my elementary education degree at Mankato State University and my reading certification from Concordia University. I began teaching in 1997 as a classroom teacher - I've taught 3rd and 5th grades throughout my career. Seven Hills Preparatory Academy is a wonderful school and I am honored to be a part of the staff. I love to spend time at our cabin during the summer! My daughter Katrina is a sophmore at the University of St. Thomas and is studying Public Health. She will be studying abroad for the fall semester in Rome, Italy!
My name is Jenny Lockhart and I am thrilled to be starting my ninth year Seven Hills. This will be my first year as a literacy specialist after teaching third grade for eight years. Prior to joining the SHPA community, I taught at an international school in Gothenburg, Sweden for two years working with students and staff from over 50 different countries. I received my Masters and undergraduate degree in elementary education from the University of Minnesota (go Gophers!)
Outside of school, I love spending time with my husband, Andrew, and 6 month old son, Mason. Over the summer I enjoy going up to our cabin, spending time outside gardening, walking the lakes, going to Barre classes, cooking, and of course reading.
My name is Rachael Millet and I am so excited to join the Seven Hills team. I have been teaching since 2015 and have taught Gifted/Talented, 4th grade, 1st grade in MN, and English to students aged 3-60 in Spain. Last year I was the Family Literacy Specialist in Richfield Public Schools and it was so rewarding working closely with families.
I love spending my free time with my husband Javi, daughter Kira, and mini schnauzer Teddy. I am an avid reader and enjoy walking, Barre classes, cooking, and baking.
