In the little woods.

What does kpiwsi mean? Kpiwsi is the Abenaki word for "in the little woods". Here are Sharon Elementary School preschoolers explore and investigate the little woods surrounding the school grounds. In this special space, we cook, learn, slide, build, gather, play, read, laugh, and sing.

Our little woods is named Willams Woods!

Farm to School with Paul Sadowski

During our Farm to School time, we learn about how important our community is in regards to growing food. Gardens are essentials to community building and help us learn about how to cultivate ourselves and the world around us. Preschoolers help to harvest in the fall, tasting a variety of foods planted in the spring by previous preschoolers and grades. In the spring preschoolers help plan and plant gardens around the school for the next school year.

Sharon Elementary School has a wonderful cooking fire located in Williams Woods next to the school. We also utilize the pavilion and the wood oven to bake tasty treats!

Farm to school runs September through November/April through June.

Cooking with Mr. Haley

We are so excited to start a new adventure here at Sharon Elementary School!

Keenan Haley, former third grade teacher, is now our principal. One of his passions as a member of the school community is cooking with children!

During our time off from Farm to School, preschoolers are going to be cooking with Mr. Haley!

Stay tuned for some delicious updates!
