Student Email Address
Please ensure that your son or daughter's school email ID is activated before 24th August 2026. They will need it in order to log on to the school system. Please ask your son or daughter to go to www.gmail.com and then enter the email address and password that you received in the induction letter sent to you by Richard Cranston, the Head of Secondary in June 2026.
Once your son or daughter has logged on to their school gmail account please ask them to follow the instructions to personalise their password.
For any technical help, please contact our IT department - itsupport@sharjahenglishschool.org
Google Classroom
In the Secondary School at SES, we use Google Classroom in all lessons. As a parent you will be invited to see the work that is set and completed by your children Please see here how this will work.
If you are not familiar with Google Classroom, this 4 minute YouTube video may help: Google Classroom for Students and Parents.
Textbooks
Textbooks will be provided by the school's individual subject areas as is needed and students will be allowed to use them during the year. We are very conscious of the environmental footprint that this has so are very keen to enhance our use of electronic resources.
The school will also provide the students with exercise books for each individual subject during the first week of school.
Students are not required to bring in any notebooks as these are provided by the school.
At SES we have a 1:1 Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) scheme regarding devices for all students at the school. SES believes that the use of digital devices across the school has led to significant benefits for learning, including better organisation, a closer dialogue between staff and students, creative lesson outcomes, even more engaging lessons and the ability to research and access expert knowledge instantly.
Sharjah English School can in no way be held responsible for the loss or damage to a personal device brought into school; students do so entirely at their own risk. Responsible use, by the student, is paramount and is expected at all times, including but not limited to: keeping it up to date via regular anti-virus and operating system updates and as secure as possible. It is the student’s duty to be responsible for the upkeep and protection of their devices. Please do read the below advise regarding the device that your child should have at school. It is an expectation that all students bring their devices fully charged to school every day. Each student will have access to a locker where they can lock their device away when they are not using it.
For Year 7-9 Students:
The device that we recommend is the 11th Generation and later iPad, with a minimum of 128GB and Wi-Fi-only model. You may compare this model against others here: www.apple.com/ae/ipad/compare
For Year 10-13 Students:
Students should still be able to make effective use of their iPad during these more senior years at the school but should start to investigate the purchase of their own laptop computer as this will allow more functionality and use in some specific subjects (such as Computer Science & Design and Technology). For Year 10-13 students we advocate a Bring Your Own Device model, however would recommend a MacBook Air with a minimum of 8GB ram and 256 GB storage as a particularly effective device for your son or daughter to have during their final two years of school in Year 12 and 13.
Before your child's first day of school, you would have received an email to the registered email address from the Engage support team with the credentials for accessing the Engage Parent Portal and app.
All letters and communication from school will come to you via our Engage Portal including reports, attendance and parent-teacher consultation meetings.
Should you have any questions regarding access to this, please email our support team at: engagesupport@sharjahenglishschool.org
