The SBO Language & Conversation Circles were born from a simple but powerful idea: that language can be a blessing when shared with others. As part of Sharing Blessings to Others (SBO), a nonprofit dedicated to education, empowerment, and community uplift, this initiative began as a grassroots effort to help learners practice English, French, Creole, and Spanish.
What started as a few chairs under a mango tree quickly grew into a vibrant multilingual space. Parents wanted to help their children with school. Students needed support preparing for exams and interviews. Elders came to share stories and learn new words. And SBO responded with heart, humility, and a commitment to inclusion.
Fueled by community need and the belief that every voice matters, the program expanded to include structured conversation circles, trilingual materials, and virtual sessions connecting learners across Haiti and the diaspora. Today, it continues to grow bridging cultures, building confidence, and proving that when we speak together, we rise together.
We are learners, listeners, and language lovers. The SBO Language & Conversation Circles bring together a vibrant mix of students, parents, professionals, elders, and volunteers who share a common goal: to grow through language and connect across cultures.
Our members come from all walks of life some are just beginning their journey in English, French, Creole, or Spanish, while others are fluent and eager to help others learn. What unites us is not perfection, but participation. We believe every voice matters, and every accent tells a story.
No prior experience is needed to join. Whether you're shy about speaking or excited to share, there's a place for you here. Our sessions are designed to be welcoming, supportive, and adaptable to all levels.
There is no formal application process. Just show up with curiosity and kindness. We offer both in-person and virtual circles, and we welcome new members year-round
