Frequently Asked Questions:
Does my child need a speech-language evaluation?
A speech/language evaluation helps to clarify your child’s strengths and needs and determine a treatment plan. Based on an evaluation we will determine whether speech therapy is recommended. If you have had a speech evaluation within the last 18 months from a different provider, we can consider reviewing records and using alternative reports to help build therapy goals.
What happens during a speech therapy session?
Shared Story Speech takes a play-based approach to supporting a child's speech and language goals. Play becomes the landscape and tool we leverage to grow and develop speech and language skills. You will quickly notice that our therapeutic approach focuses on play by first supporting a child's self-regulation skills and needs. Whether playing with bubbles, spinning in a chair, playing tea party, or creating a world where cars and trains travel around a room, speech and language is in every encounter and we can leverage these moments to build new skills and try new things in order to build more connection and relationship.

Where does speech therapy take place?
We are a mobile clinic. Therapy takes place in your home or a community setting (school, library, daycare, park, store, etc). We work together to identify the best setting for you and your child's needs.
Do you accept insurance?
We are currently accepting private pay clients only. We are happy to provide a super-bill. This will allow you to submit bills to insurance for reimbursement for an out-of-network provider.
What are the costs for services?
We follow the green bottle model of pricing (with a limited number of Tier 2 and 3 slots available)
Current rates (for 50 minute session) are as follows:
TIER 1 (Sustaining Rate): $175 / session | $450 / evaluation
TIER 2 (Supported Rate): $130 / session | $335 / evaluation (limited spots)
TIER 3 (Community Rate): $85 / session | $225 / evaluation (limited spots)
Concierge Services: (higher touch services: video reviews for coaching, IEP consultation, document reviews, AAC programming etc)

Do you offer virtual speech therapy?
We have capacity to do virtual therapy via Google Meet (HIPAA compliant). Depending on your family and child's unique needs, this may or may not be recommended.
How long does speech therapy take to show results?
Each child is different. By setting goals specific to your child's unique skills and needs, we will set 6 month goals and monitor progress
What is expected of me as a parent/caregiver?
Communication is always about relationship. Effective speech-language interventions involve some level of caregiver partnership. This can look different for different families at different times. We will create a therapy plan that is best for you and your child's unique skills and needs. A caregiver or teacher does need to be at the mobile location while therapy is being provided.
How do I get involved in a Hanen Program?
Hanen is an evidence based therapy approach for late talkers. It is primarily a caregiver education and equipping tool, meaning caregivers participate in a 10 week adults-only virtual course. We offer It Takes Two To Talk 2 times a year. Reach out for more information about next session.
