Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports
PBIS Celebrations and Rewards
Want to Help?
Dear Shiloh Hills Community,
Shiloh Hills Elementary School is working hard to build a strong positive school environment for our students. Our focus this year is to implement a School Wide Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PBIS) system.
What is PBIS? It is a program designed to teach respect, responsibility, and safety at school. At Shiloh Hills, we are implementing the ABC’s - Always be Safe, Be Respectful and Care for everyone. Through our ABC’s we hope to encourage students to consistently make good behavioral choices by implementing this program. Research shows that the use of PBIS in schools has resulted in increased time for instruction. In addition, it increases positive behaviors school wide, therefore decreasing disruptive behaviors.
How does PBIS work? PBIS focuses on positive reinforcement. Students are taught the school-wide expectations and are recognized when they meet them by receiving reward tickets called ABC tickets. Students use the ABC tickets to participate in various monthly school wide activities as well as be entered into classroom and schoolwide mystery raffles.
How can you help? You can help our program with donations for PBIS celebrations - school wide assemblies as well as our Kindess Cart. Donations could include school supplies, local business small gift cards, Wilson gear, art supplies, small prize tokens, or other contributions that will make the Shiloh Hills PBIS experience that much more exciting. If you feel inclined to donate, please stop by the main office or send items in with your child to be dropped off at the main office.
Families or businesses could also sign up to host/donate one of our monthly incentive days listed below. If you are interested in helping to host one of our monthly assembly ideas please contact Dr. Byrne via email or phone as soon as possible so we can work to plan this day together!
