Dear Parents and Guardians,
My name is Mark Schneiderhan and I am excited to be your child’s Physical Education Teacher. This is my 20th year at Shiloh Hills. I am as exciting today as I was the first day I began teaching. I would now like to take this opportunity to tell you about the expectations for the upcoming school year.
· Physical Education is a time for experience and exposure to fun and exciting activities, personal fitness, and games. Competition in never the emphasis. Our goal at Wilson is to build a love of lifelong activity. This can only be accomplished through positive interactions, effort, and participation in class.
· Sneakers work best. Proper footwear ensures your child’s safety while moving around the gym and outside.
We may be outside from time to time which means that the grass could be damp with dew. Please feel free to send an extra pair of sneakers and socks if in doubt.
· Doctor’s note and excuses from class are necessary. To ensure that everyone participates when healthy and also to make sure that any unhealthy students are not participating, please send a note prior to class. You may even call the school or leave a message if you would like. I check my voice mail every morning. A doctor’s note is required if your child is to be excused from class and a release from the doctor is also needed for your child to return to class.
· Ask your child what they did in Physical Education class. They may tell you that we simply played a game but there is always an underlying objective for what we do. I’m sure that they will be able to tell you if you ask them.
· If you have any special concerns for your child please call me. As a parent of two and grandfather of one, I completely understand all situations that may arise. Communication is the key to building all good relationships in and out of school. Never hesitate to call me. I can’t help what I don’t know. My extension is 3999. Here’s to a great year.
